Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi is a renowned international journal that primarily focuses on scientific research and advancements in the field of plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery. The journal is peer-reviewed and open-access, making it accessible to all. It covers articles related to every sub-discipline of plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery, including craniomaxillofacial, hand surgery, reconstructive microsurgery and oncoplastic, burns and wounds, external genital, and aesthetic surgery. In addition, the journal features basic science and experimental studies linked to plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery.
Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi welcomes all scientific article types, including clinical case reports and studies, experimental research, ideas and innovations, viewpoints, and surgical techniques. Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi is the official journal of the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Training Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia.
It warmly welcomes researchers and members of the plastic surgery community from every part of the world, regardless of their socioeconomic status. The journal aims to be an open platform for plastic surgery research, free of social and political barriers. The editorial board believes that the journal can serve as a catalyst to spread the science of plastic surgery worldwide, improve patient safety, and enhance surgical outcomes.

As the Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi, it is with immense pride that I introduce our latest accomplishment – Volume 10 Issue 2, September 2023. This edition not only represents the culmination of rigorous scholarly work but also signifies a landmark in the ever-evolving field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Each article within this issue has been meticulously selected to showcase the breadth and depth of advancements in this dynamic field.
In our Reconstructive section, the spotlight is on the innovative use of the forehead flap for facial defects reconstruction. The article titled "Forehead Flap for Facial Defects Reconstruction: Case Series and Review of the Literature" delves into a series of case studies, backed by an extensive literature review. This piece, authored by a team of experts, stands as a testament to the evolving techniques in facial reconstruction, providing insights into the intricate balance between functional and aesthetic restoration.
The field of Microsurgery is represented by two remarkable articles. "Free Flap Evaluation Following Reconstruction of Locally Advanced Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tongue" offers an in-depth analysis of post-reconstruction evaluations. This study not only highlights the complexity of managing advanced carcinomas but also underscores the critical role of microsurgical techniques in achieving successful outcomes. Additionally, "Early Dangling Protocol Post Lower Extremity Free Flap Surgery: An Evidence-Based Case Report" presents a pioneering approach to postoperative care. Our Craniofacial section features the insightful "Facial Soft Tissues Reconstruction Methods after Tumor Resection in Soedarso General Hospital 2017 – 2022". This article offers a comprehensive review of various reconstructive methods, drawing from five years of clinical experiences. It serves as a valuable resource, highlighting the challenges and triumphs in craniofacial reconstruction following tumor resections, providing a roadmap for future advancements in this specialized area.
In the Burns section, the focus shifts to pediatric care with the article "Cyanoacrylate Glue Burn Injury in 2 Years Old Child".
