Focus and Scope

Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi® is an open access, peer reviewed, international journal focusing on global plastic and reconstructive surgery. JPR publishes on all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including basic science/experimental studies pertinent to the field and also clinical articles on such topics as: breast reconstruction, head and neck surgery, pediatric and craniofacial surgery, hand and microsurgery, wound healing, and cosmetic and aesthetic surgery. Clinical studies, experimental articles, ideas and innovations, and techniques and case reports are all welcome article types.

Manuscript submission is open to all surgeons, researchers, and other health care providers world-wide who wish to communicate their research results on topics related to plastic and reconstructive surgery. Furthermore, JPR, provides an open access venue for the publication of those research studies sponsored by private and public funding agencies that require open access publication of study results. Its mission is to disseminate high quality, peerreviewed research in plastic and reconstructive surgery to the widest possible global audience, through an open access platform. As an open access journal, JPR offers its content for free to any viewer. Authors of articles retain their copyright to the materials published. Additionally, JPR provides rapid review and publication of accepted papers.

JPR serves the international plastic surgery community, including surgeons, care providers, and patients alike. We encourage international researchers to submit to the journal in order to advance patient safety, improve surgical and procedural outcomes, and elevate the science of plastic surgery worldwide. JPR serves the overall mission of the Yayasan Lingkar Studi Bedah Plastik®, owner of the journal: it educates and supports plastic surgeons globally to provide the highest quality patient care and maintain professional and ethical standards through education, research, and advocacy.

The Vision Statement of Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi® (JPR) is to provide updated information for readers and public generally, in significant developments of areas related to plastic and reconstructive surgery, especially in Indonesia and become the foremost Indonesian plastic surgery journal that internationally known by 2015.

The Missions Statement of Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi® (JPR) is :

  1. JPR become the internationally known plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery journal by 2013.
  2. JPR become fully-functional E-Journal, collaborating writers and editors from all over the worlds by 2014.

Peer Review Process

Peer reviewers are recruited by the editorial boards (Section editor / Editor-In-Chief) and responsible of evaluating the manuscripts based on their area of expertise.

The journal editorial staff will then send “Peer-Review Application Form” to the peer reviewers. Peer reviewers must fill out the form which includes terms of agreement, basic information, peer-reviewing process (open, single blind, double blind), area of expertise, and corespondency.

If agreements are made, peer reviewers will be included in the editorial process according to “Article Submission and Editorial Process Flow Chart JPR” and “Peer Reviewer Checklist” will be sent. The response from peer reviewer will be discussed and considered by the editorial boards JPR. 

Review Guidelines

1. Manuscript Identification

Please provide information about the manuscript title and corresponding authors for identification purpose

2. Confidentiality

Manuscript submitted to peer-reviewer is not published yet, please keep it confidential only to authors, editors and peer-reviewers only. Because it is privileged document, please do not cite, refer or use its content before it has been published. 

3. Assistance with Reviews

Sometimes reviewer assigned to a manuscript that did not match their sub-specialty. If the reviewer know some colleagues that are more capable, the reviewer may ask for their help. Please note that the confidentiality of the manuscript also applies to all colleagues. Its the responsibility of the assigned reviewers to ensure that their colleagues provides a quality review within the time limits indicated.

4. Brief Summary

Please choose one answer that appropriate from the “Quality for Publication” (number 11) section on the checklist, 1. “Acceptable as is”, 2. “Minor revisions needed/accept after revision” , 3. “Major Revision Needed”, 4. “Revision not possible”.  Please do not include this assessment in your comment to the authors.

5. Significance of the Manuscript

The general comment on the manuscript significance. Are the finding original? Does the paper communicate new information? Does the paper contribute worthwhile substance to previously published information? Does the manuscript confirm data that has been previously published?

6. Abstract

Is the abstract structured according to the journal’s requirements? Does the paper reflect what is stated in the abstract, and vice versa? Is the data in the abstract correct, and does the abstract data correspond to data presented in the article? is the abstract concise?

7. Similar Publications

Please indicate whether the manuscript contains information similar to other articles or book chapter published. Please provide detailed information which books or articles indicated.

8. Length of Text

Is the length of the manuscript considered too long? or way too short? Indicate which sections of manuscript need to be edited. Economy of words and space is highly prized in scientific publication. Are there any replaceable text with tables or figures?

9. Style and Use of Language

Asses whether the language style is clear and concise. Indicate if the text need to be revised for clarity, if the authors native language is not english would the authors be benefit from english language consultation?

10. Figures and illustration

If theres any figures or tables need to be modified? Are all of the tables/figures needed? Are the figures color adequate? Are there any text that would benefit from figures placement?

11. References

Is the reference list adequate? Are there any missing/key citations that are not included? Please provide the detail

12. Conclusions

Are the conclusions/summary justified? if its partly justified, please indicate which are justified and not justified? What needs to be undergone so that the paper justify it conclusions? Is more data needed? Do more experiments needs to be conducted? Is more follow up time required? Are there any major methodological or statistical flaws with the paper?

13. Ethical Approval

Are there any ethics committee approval, if necessary? Are the authors adhered to Helsinki Doctrine on Human Experimentation?

14. General Remarks

Please contribute detailed comments if this paper needs improvement, give your advice how this paper could be improved. If this paper should be rejected, please give detail why its should, also how to improve the paper. Please provide general constructive comments to the author whether the paper is acceptable for the journal. The authors may rework their paper and submit it to another journal, you comments will be beneficial.

The Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi is committed to real and immediate open access for academic work. All of the JPR’s articles and reviews are free to access immediately from the date of publication. There are no author charges (commonly known as APCs) prior to publication, and no charge for any reader to download articles and reviews for their own scholarly use. The JPR does not, therefore, operate either a Gold or Green model of open access, but is free to all at any time and in perpetuity. To facilitate this the JPR depends upon the financial underwriting provided by the Yayasan Lingkar Studi Bedah Plastik, the goodwill of its editorial team and advisory board, and the continuing support of its network of peer reviewers.

Articles opting for open access will be freely available to read, download and share from the time of publication. All open access articles (with the exception of the Research Councils UK funded papers) are published under the terms of the Creative Commons License Attribution-Noncommercial No Derivative 3.0 (CCBY NCND) which allows readers to disseminate and reuse the article, as well as share and reuse of the scientific material. Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Journal Statement on Publication Ethics

The Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi (JPR) adopts the COPE guidelines on publication ethics.

Authors of JPR must confirm the following:

  • Submitted manuscripts must be the original work of the author(s)
  • Only unpublished manuscripts should be submitted
  • It is unethical to submit a manuscript to more than one journal concurrently
  • Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated
  • Acknowledge the sources of data used in the development of the manuscript
  • All errors discovered in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the Editor.

Reviewers of JPR must confirm the following:

  • That all manuscripts are reviewed in fairness based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenry nor political values of author(s)
  • That any observed conflict of interest during the review process must be communicated to the Editor
  • That all information pertaining to the manuscript is kept confidential
  • That any information that may be the reason for the rejection of publication of a manuscript must be communicated to the Editor

Editors of JPR must confirm the following

  • That all manuscripts are evaluated in fairness based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenry nor political values of authors
  • That information pertaining manuscripts are kept confidential
  • That any observed conflict of interest pertaining manuscripts must be disclosed
  • The Editorial Board takes responsibility for making publication decisions for submitted manuscripts based on the reviewer’s evaluation of the manuscript, policies of the journal editorial board and legal restrain acting against plagiarism, libel and copyright infringement.
